北方人過年習慣吃餃子，是取新舊交替“更歲交子”的意思。又因為白面餃子形狀很像元寶，一盆盆端上桌象征著“新年大發財，元寶滾滾來”之意。有的包餃子時，還把幾門沸騰水消毒后的硬幣包進去，說是誰先吃到了，就能多掙錢。吃餃子的習俗。是從漢朝傳下來的。相傳，醫生張仲景在寒冬臘月，看到窮人的被凍爛了，便制作了一種“祛寒嬌耳湯”給窮人治凍傷。他用羊肉、辣椒和一些去寒溫熱的藥材，用面皮包成耳朵樣子的“嬌耳”，下鍋煮熟，分給窮人吃，人們吃后覺得渾身變暖，兩耳發熱。以后，人們仿效著做，一直流傳到今天。

新年吃餛沌，是取其開初之意。傳說世界生成以前是很渾沌的狀態，盤古開天辟地，才有了宇宙四方。

長面，也叫長壽面，是預祝壽長白年。

貼春聯
