　　這些形容詞均含有占優勢的，支配其它的之意。

　　dominant : 強調權威。

　　The British were formerly dominant in India.(英國人從前統治印度。)

　　predominant : 側重指影響與新近的優勢。

　　The predominant feature of his character was pride.(他的性格中主要的特點是驕傲。)

　　sovereign : 側重指其他事物都從屬于或低于它的。
