還有就是,library 一定會繼續(xù)火下去,我給大家一個sample answer, 好好準備啊。加油!
The library Id like to talk about is the National Library of China. It is the largest library in China, even in Asia with a collection of over 23 million volumes. The library serves for government, key research institutions, academy, education, business and the general public. So the library is popular with people from a wide range of fields. There are grey-haired scholars, businessmen, workers as well as students. The reason that I like to go to this library is that it contains the most comprehensive books. With a wider application of computer and network technologies, the library becomes a national knowledge base and an information center. It opens to the public 365 days a year and its on-line services are available 24 hours a day. It is like a sacred place, where I feel enlightened and nourished. Whenever I feel depressed, I would like to lose myself in the vast sea of books here.
part 3
1. What role does a library play in a university?
Well, a university without library can not be called a university. It is an important resource where students can obtain various books no matter it is published in the past or at present. So it facilitates them to do some research. Library is an invisible teacher in a university. What we couldnt learn from teachers can be gotten from a library.
2. Do young people like going to visit the libraries in your country?
Not really. Not many young people like going to visit libraries today, as far I am concerned. Only those young people who like reading or who want to recharge themselves so as to improve their working ability would be likely to visit the libraries.
3. What kinds of libraries do most of young people like to go to?
Actually, we do not have as many libraries in China as in western countries. Most young people would go to the university library if they have permission. However, university libraries are not open to the public. Thus, many young people would go to bookstores.
4. Do you think the libraries will be replaced by the internet libraries in the future? Why or why not?
It is an interesting topic. Internet libraries are another alternative for us to search for information. However, it can never replace libraries. Just like internet can not replace traditional paper books. First, storing all books in electronic version in the internet libraries is not realistic. It must be a huge database. Every day the internet libraries should be refreshed, so it will be very hard to search for the information we want. Second, internet information can not be taken out as the books we borrowed from libraries. It is not convenient for us to read when we are not accessible to a computer or internet.
5. Should a local government build many libraries for the citizens? What will be the advantages or disadvantages by doing this?
Well, local governments build libraries for the citizens so that more people, especially the less educated or people with economic difficulties in buying books can read books free of charge. However, the number of the libraries should be in proportion to the number of local residents, to be specific, the number of readers. If there are too many libraries in a local city, this will result in repetitive construction and wasting a lot of money.
6. What should be improved in todays library system in your city?
I think the library is not so developed in my city. The library is rather small, so there are not enough reading rooms. At lending and returning desks, there are always long queues. It is a waste of time. I consider that our library should adopt the self-service machines as the national library. Furthermore, our library should establish more networks with other libraries.
